The IUSSP’s scientific panel on digital demography, AI and open science, which began its work on 1 November 2026 and will remain active until November 2030, is co-chaired by Aliakbar Akbaritabar (Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) and the University of Rostock) and Francesco Rampazzo of the University of Manchester. The panel will examine AI both as a driver of demographic change and as a research tool, and will promote its responsible use alongside established demographic methods and data sources such as surveys, censuses, registers and vital statistics. If you would like to receive information about upcoming activities such as workshops, meetings, conferences and other relevant events, please subscribe to the panel’s mailing list: Digital Demography, AI, and Open Science.
